February, done and dusted!

flowers in feb
You guys! We survived winter, who’d have thought! — OK, so technically it’s still a few weeks until spring is official, but I’ve got a spring in my step and I am loving the early-spring blooms! March is going to be good.

Let’s look back onto February… the shortest month sure felt like the longest. Loads has happened, so let’s get cracking!

We started February with a full weekend of snow, heaps and heaps of snow for modern-time Dutch standards. It was cold and magnificent! Then there was loads of the usual work, long days with early evenings.

Although, I really tried to make something of Feb. — I went to see La La Land with a friend. That was so worth it. Man alive, I loved La La Land so much, Hazel Hayes made a video which described one of the reasons I love this movie so much.

Also, I got to attend some lectures on cinema, Hollywood and the Oscars with another friend. Oh and of course, the Oscars happened. Mannn, I really have to watch so many movies still!

February actually got by fairly uneventful… until the last bit. You see, I was planning a full-time move back to The Hague but with work being in Utrecht it was bit…well, terribly inconvenient. So who’d have thought that within a week I got myself a new job in The Hague! The city by the sea… I am excited and terrified and already started the training.

Let me explain, I resigned at the customer service desk and now am venturing more into IT. Something I’ve been terrified in doing for forever. But I need to stop half-assing things and start doing things with the entirety of my ass. Either way, I’m happy February is over.

The monthly update:
Read: My Not So Perfect Life (Sophie Kinsella) and Buffering (Hannah Hart) 4/14
Seen: La La Land, Zootropolis 4/12
Made: I don’t really remember (fail!)

Quote for this month:
Every time you see someone’s bright-and-shiny, remember: They have their own crappy truths too. Of course they do. And every time you see your own crappy truth and feel despair and think, ‘Is this my life?’, remember: It’s not. Everyone’s got a bright-and-shiny, even if it’s hard to find sometimes.” – Sophie Kinsella (My Not So Perfect Life)

And here’s what I think is February-exclusive:

  • It’s the shortest month
  • Spring is finally, slowly getting into view
  • Still… snow — if you’re lucky

So what am I looking forward to in March?
– Spring Forward: summertime is starting, which means longer days!
– Actual Spring: birds tweeting, tiny animals are born, blooms blooming, grass growing!
– 5th of March: wedding anniversary of my parents = family get-together (Yes, I know, the time this post goes up it’s been the 5th already — who cares)

  • how do you think about la la land? i haven’t gotten around to watch it and it stopped showing already T^T congrats for the new job! so glad for you, louise! i remember once i got offered customer service job and i failed in training. i think i haven’t gotten around to master my lack in verbal communication u___u wishing you the best, though! i’m sure you’ll do great!

i hope the family gathering on 5th been a blast! xx

    • Thanks Tannya! I’m very excited for my move into IT. Customer service is really challenging, but not all that for me.

La La Land was awesome. It was a hopeful movie, but felt like a classic AND was a bit too much — but then the lovely chemistry between Gosling and Stone was fireworks.

Also, thanks for being such a good blogbuddy. You’re making me feel more human and myself. :)

  • I think everyone who’s seen La La Land seems to really love it! I’m curious about the movie but at the same time I’ve been kinda avoiding watching it, ha!

    Congrats on the new job!

    • Oh, I feel you! I thought La La Land was just such a hype. And sure, to and extend it is. But then La La Land feels like a classic (like Hazel explained in the video) and that’s why I loved it so much. Apart from the hopeful story. :)

  • Charlotte

So happy to have you around…you’ve finally returned to the most wonderful city in Holland. Us sisters/working gals need to stick together. <3 Just keep pushing forward, I have faith in you!

  • Congratulations on the new job! Happy for you and I would love to see/hear more about The Hague :) I still haven’t watched La La Land myself, I’m very behind on films! Hope you get some spring weather soon.

    P.S. that puppy is adorable

  • Congrats on venturing into new things re: job! Good luck to you! I’m so glad February is over as well. :)

  • Congrats on your new job! That’s really exciting, especially because it’s exactly where you want it to be so it seems like everything is falling into place. Also I feel the same every year at the end of winter because I hate the cold so much, and it doesn’t even snow in Australia!
