Recently, randomly [2]

Autumn is upon us! Next weekend we’ll be having ‘fall backwards’, as the daylight saving time comes to an end. That’s one of the true signs winter is creeping in on us. Let’s start with what October brought us… or what I would prefer to call it ‘Octoberfuntober’ for no particular reason…

Every other year my sister’s birthday makes a surprise appearance on the blog (as seen here, and here). So here’s what we did this year. It was my sister’s 29th, and she was in a bit of a rut recently. So I decided to play the role of the silly and slightly cheeky little sister (to tell you the truth, I don’t have to play that part: I am that part). I got all of us a pumpkin and demanded that we would all do some pumpkin carving that day, for maybe the first time in her life? They say there’s a time and place for everything, and this was exactly that.

My dad had once again outdone himself. As per tradition he made my sister a marzipan cake. We closed the night off with a little takoyaki party. Oh, we can be made content with such simple pleasures. ;-)

cake is a lie

Earlier this month I attended the ‘Welcome to Nightvale’ Ghosttour in Amsterdam with my brother. It was more fun than I thought it would be. I’m not sure if that is a good sign or not, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I think ‘Welcome to Nightvale’ is really somewhere up-there with the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. It’s so weird and surreal and fun, but mostly weird. Yeah, weird is the word. If you’ve never heard of it, Welcome to Nightvale is a fun podcast in the style of community updates for the small, fictional, desert town of Night Vale. You mostly hear Cecil Baldwin talk about the random events in the city, with ‘the weather’ being a funky (real-life) song. I’ll share a random episode… maybe you’ll like it!?

Other than that, my October hasn’t been all that spooktacular. I’ve been really, super tired these last weeks. Apart from work-work-work, I made great spaghetti, and did some embroidery…which is kind of my new favourite hobby. Especially now that I’ve found some great, geeky designs on Etsy that I would really like to my hand at (like this one, or this one).

I’ve decided to let this instalment of ‘recently, randomly’ a little more light-hearted than the first one where we talked feminism. That’s a topic I’d like to talk a little more about a later on. How was your October…and since the month is not over yet (as Halloween is still upon us)…do tell me: do you have any spooky plans?
