Sometimes you come across a movie that speaks to your insides. Or something like that. I don’t know what or why exactly, but ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ was eye-opening in some ways, while at the same time it was comforting. And I like it when a movie is soothing and still making you uncomfortable or cry. And, ehr, yes, I do cry at movies quite easily. I mean… the feeeels.
Anyway, this is my summer recommendation (that you can also watch in fall or winter or whenever). I just think that if you haven’t watched it yet, you should. And if you didn’t like it… well.. I kind of want to know why, if you’ve got the time.
IMDB said something like: “A day-dreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, he takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.”
To be honest, that didn’t really speak to me so much. It sounded corny and cliché. – You see, at first when watching and his ‘world of fantasies’ in the movie I was a bit put off. It looked fancy, don’t get me wrong. But it wasn’t really what I was in for. But maybe that’s the thing. – The movie had a kind of slow start, but that was just to keep you informed. The rest was a roller-coaster of fun and beautiful. Even though I though the end was perfectly predictable, it was a very nice ending anyway.
I thought the movie was gorgeous. Not only great photography, also the music was perfect. A bit of David Bowie, Jose Gonzalez and a lot of David Shapiro. A soundtrack not to miss. Definitely check out the song below. You’ll feel… I don’t know, you tell me.
